Hi hamaluik,

You could compute the direction of wave propagation using the acoustic intensity, which is analogous to an acoustic Poynting vector (both have units of W/m^2). You can compute the intensity by setting
sensor.record = {'I', 'I_avg'}
. This will return the intensity in each Cartesian direction, which you can then assemble to give the intensity vector at each position.

Brad.

Hi there,

First off - k-wave is great and is really simplifying my life! I just have one question that I can't seem to figure out - is there any way to extract the direction of wave propagation / the pointing vector from a simulation?

I know you can easily extract particle velocity using sensor.record, but I'm looking for the localized direction of wave propagation.

Thanks for any help you can offer!
