Hi Tang,

I'm not sure I follow your question. k-Wave doesn't explicitly include a light model. For photoacoustic imaging using nano-second laser pulses, the thermalisation of the photons meets thermal and stress confinement. In this case, we can model the acoustic wave propagation as an initial value problem, where the amplitude of the initial pressure depends on the light fluence, the optical absorption coefficient, and the photoacoustic efficiency (or Gruneisen parameter).

Hope that helps,

Brad.

Hi，
Thank you for your great toolbox.
I want to change the light source to X-ray for simulation, but I don't know how to set it up.

The absorption of x-ray can be obtained by the Beer–Lambert law： I=I0*exp(-μpx). where μ is the mass attenuation coefficient[cm2/g], p is the density[g/cm3], x is the radiation path through the absorber[cm], μp is the linear attenuation coefficient[1/cm].

Best，
Tang
