Hi Anastasiia,

There is no function. However, if you setup an velocity source that covers the whole grid (including within the PML), this will create a plane wave. There is an example in the Diffraction Through A Slit Example.

Hi Bradley,
Could you, please, let me know which function simulates a plane wave in 2D? I beleive that i have cylindrical spreading in my simulation. I create a pressure source (a line of pixels with a pressure signal equal for all pixels). But i am not sure how to simulate a plane wave in 2D. I looked at your link, i didn't really see this option.
Thanks!

Hi Haneefah,

Are you simulating a plane wave in both cases? If so, they should agree to machine precision. If not, they should be different because of cylindrical spreading in the 2D case (for example, see the Photoacoustic Waveforms in 1D, 2D and 3D Example).

Brad.

I wonder if there is a difference between the recorded sensor data of 1D vs 2D simulations.

Cause I used the same settings for 1D and 2D simulations yet the recoded pressures were different!

In fact, the 2D sensor data has lower amplitude and different shapes.

to test that, I passed sin waves through both simulations and still got the same problem.

I'm not sure if this has to do with the nature of my simulations that non-linearly propagate very high-frequency waves sampled at around 20GHz with up to ~10 MPa peaks in water.

Thank you for this great work, it is really a fantastic toolbox.
