Hi Palimm,

The simulation of an explosive source in an elastic medium is straightforward to perform in k-Wave. However, there is no mechanism to use time varying medium properties (i.e., to update the position of the scatterers during a simulation in response to the shear wave). There are lots of examples included in the toolbox to help you get started.

Brad.

Hello,

First of all, thank you very much for developing this promising toolbox.

I'm completely new to this toolbox and currently investigating whether it serves my purpose to simulate a shear wave according to my needs. This is what I would like to achieve:

I would like to simulate a shear wave coming from an explosive source (i.e. a focused ultrasound beam of compressional waves). I would need a phantom (i.e. some scatterers) which would have a different stiffness than the surrounding isotropic medium. The goal is to reconstruct the tissue stiffness by measuring the displacements of my simulation. Thus, the shear wave would have to have a different speed in different tissues.

//edit: To clarify, I have to add that I want the phantom to move according to the force coming from the shear wave.

Is it possible to simulate this using k-Wave? If yes, how would I do that? Any hints or pointers are highly appreciated. Thank you very much.
