Hi Tom,

Something doesn't sound quite right. Could you say a bit more about your setup (including spatial and temporal sampling)?

Brad.

Hi,

I am interested in implementing this! I have my code more or less working to take a measured plane and propagate it. However, it only works if I have source.p_mode as additive. The pressure fields are totally different if I change only source.p_mode to dirichlet. The dirichlet mode yields high pressure around the input plane and very low pressure everywhere else. Any advice on why this may be? My input source is filtered hydrophone data.

Potentially helpful observation: the p_rms at my input plane looks as expected for additive mode, but looks almost random with dirichlet mode.

Thank you,
Tom

No problems - I hope you can get it to work. I forgot to mention that if you wish to reconstruct your source (i.e., the field backwards in time rather than forwards), you should reverse your time signals before assigning to
source.p
.

Hi Anthony,

Yes, you can certainly use k-Wave for this, see here for an example. Essentially, you need to specify source.p_mask to be the same size as your measurement plane, source.p to be the corresponding measurement data, and set source.p_mode = 'dirichlet' to enforce the source as a boundary condition.

Brad.

Hi,

Reading the description of k-wave photoacoustic reconstruction functions, I was wondering if these functions could be used for acoustic holography.
Let's say I have measured my acoustic field in a plane, would these reconstruction functions be suitable for reconstructing my 3D source (using some time reversal...)?
It seems to be quite the same problem... Am I right?

Best regards,
Anthony
