<p>Hi Vasiliki,</p>
<p>This appears because the first part of the received signal is windowed out (see the "Remove Input Signal" part of the code). This is to remove the signal that travels directly from element to element.</p>
<p>Hope that helps,</p>
<p>Brad.

<p>Hi!</p>
<p>By reading the documentation and running the example <code>example_us_bmode_linear_transducer</code> I noticed that there is a black area on the top of the bmode image.</p>
<p>Examples of images that describe can be found: <a href="http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/example_us_bmode_phased_array.php">Here in the documentation for a phased array</a> and <a href="http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/example_us_bmode_linear_transducer.php">here for a linear array</a>. In the second link the bmode image is cropped.</p>
<p> <img src="http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/images/example_us_bmode_phased_array_01.png" alt="Phased" /><br />
<img src="http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/images/example_us_bmode_linear_transducer_08.png" alt="Linear" /></p>
<p>I was wondering why this area exist there and what significance it has.</p>
<p>Thank you very much!</p>
<p>Best,<br />
Vasiliki
