Hi maryam,

The simple formula contained within the
kWaveTransducer
class assumes a homogeneous value of sound speed (set by
transducer.sound_speed
). There are many ways you can focus in a heterogeneous medium, e.g., using time reversal, time-of-flight phase offsets, average sound speed along a ray path etc etc. Probably the easiest way to implement these is to use
source.p_mask
and
source.p
(rather than
makeTransducer
) so you can directly control the signal used to drive each grid point of the source.

Brad.

Hi

I am trying to focus at a point in heterogeneous medium. I used maketransducer function and transducer.beamforming_delays to get delay times but they are similar to what I have in homogenous medium. I guess that k-wave uses a formula that doesn’t take into account the different acoustic sound speeds in medium. Please help me How can I consider the different medium to calculating delay times in my code?

Thanks
