Hi Deblina,

The magnitude (or amplitude) of the photoacoustic source is proportional to the heat deposited in the tissue and the photoacoustic efficiency (or Gruneisen coefficient). If all of the generated ultrasound energy is not detected, this will result in magnitude errors in the reconstructed image (as well as other artefacts).

Brad.

Hello Brad,

Thanks for the information. Could you please explain, how the reconstructed magnitude is related to image artifacts or reconstructed image size?

Hi Deblina,

Without knowing more about your simulation, it's difficult to comment. In the 3D Time Reversal Reconstruction For A Spherical Sensor Example, the reconstructed shapes are approximately the same. However, using a larger number of sensor points improves the accuracy of the reconstructed magnitude, and reduces the image artefacts.

Brad

Hi,
I have a query regarding number of sensor points. From '2D Time Reversal Reconstruction For A Circular Sensor Example' I have observed that if the number of sensor points are increased, the blurriness of the reconstructed image get reduced i.e. it improves the quality of the reconstructed image. But when I tried with the 3D program,I could not find much of change in shape of the reconstructed image.

Is there any specific reason that the 3D program did not provide remarkable change in reconstructed image?

Thanks,
Deblina
