I also encountered this error, and my solution was to move the K-wave toolbox higher in the add-on search order. In 2023b, go to the "Home" tab ==> click on "Set Path" (under the "Preferences" tab) ==> select all K-wave-related paths ==> click the "Move to Top" button ==> save ==> close.

Given that I did not want to uninstall the curve fitting toolbox, this seemed like a decent compromise, but I'm not sure how it will affect my use of the curve fitting toolbox. The first example in the cf toolbox's example code for the
smooth
function seems to work for snow, but given that I have not used that function directly before, perhaps it will cause issues later on.

Are you running an initial value problem with smoothing turned on, and have the curve fitting toolbox? There can sometimes be a clash between the
smooth
function in k-Wave and the
smooth
function in this toolbox. If that's the case, try removing the curve fitting toolbox from the path when running k-Wave.
