Hi Leyla,

In general, it is certainly possible to define the photoacoustic source term based on information from another imaging modality. I'm not sure I quite follow your question, but keep in mind that if you only run the forward problem, the generated
sensor_data
will not resemble the photoacoustic source. The
sensor_data
contains the time varying boundary measurements that can then later be used to reconstruct a photoacoustic image.

If you're interested in creating a photoacoustic breast phantom, this paper may also be of interest.

Brad.

Hi Ben,

I want to generate photoacoustic breast model with using k-wave toolbox. I have an idea but I am not sure that it is appropriate or not. An external image can be added to yield sensor data, so If I add breast image as initial source that is taken from different image modality such as MRI or CT and than I define medium properties, sensor mask and finally I generate sensor data, Can I say that it is photoacoustic breast data? Maybe it is an odd question but when I examine breast model data, I think those are not resemble breast.

Could you give me some advice how to generate appropriate breast data?

Best,Leyla
