Hi Juan,

You could certainly model a lens in this way using k-Wave. However, keep in mind that k-Wave only models compressional waves (it assumes the medium is a fluid), so your simulation will not include the effects of shear waves in the lens. If you think this is important, you could also look at some of the other packages listed here.

Brad.

Hi Bradley. Thanks for such a quick answer.

Do you think that k-Wave is suitable for simulating plano concave acoustic aluminium lenses just by creating a medium in the region defined by the lense with the acoustic properties of aluminium a by placing the detectors (or sources) in the plane side of the lense?

Thanks again

Juan

Hi Juan,

The medium properties are simply defined as a matrices, so it is possible to define any shape of heterogeneous interface. There are some details in this topic about creating a triangular interface. However, be aware that if your source frequency is close to the Nyquist limit, you may see some staircasing errors due to the way the interface is discretised/defined.

Hope that helps - good luck with your simulations.

Brad.

Hello Guys.

Let me first thank you for releasing such a nice and handy simulation tool.

My question is the following:

When simulating a two layered medium, is it posible to define o non "straight line" boundary between the two media, and take into account different surface normals for calculating the snells law?

Thank you very much in advance

Juan
