Hi Kevin,

The latest release of k-Wave (V1.1) includes a linear elastic code for isotropic media. This allows you to specify both velocity and stress sources. We are planning to extend this to orthotropic materials in future releases.

Brad.

Hi Ben,
I'm looking for your release to suitable for simulation of harmonic shear wave propagation.I thinks it's very good if this tool support to shear wave propagation.
I hope to see it soon.
Thanks
Haiphong.

Hi Kevin,

At the moment k-Wave just simulates wave propagation in fluids (so no shear), although there is a plan in the future to add an elastic wave code which will include shear. I can't promise exactly when, but we're on the case!

Regards,

Ben

I am interested in numerical evaluation of elastic parameter inversion algorithms for MR Elastography (MRE).

(In MRE the tissue is vibrated using an external actuator and MRI is used to image the resulting microscopic 3D displacements throughout the field of view. The curl of the data is used to suppress the effects of the compressional wave and shear is thus the mode of interest)

Essentially I want to simulated (shear) wave propagation in an anisotropic (e.g. transversely isotropic or orthotropic) medium. It is often assumed that, following the application of external shear waves, the medium is harmonically oscillating in steady state. Given that simplification, can this toolbox be of use?

Instead of initial pressures could one specify initial stiffness tensors/parameters?

Thanks,

Kevin
