Do you mean modelling propagation just in air? That should be no problems as long as you set all the respective parameters appropriately (medium and grid). If you’re still stuck, post an example and we can take a look. It can also help to turn off the nonlinearity to start to help with debugging the problem.

Hi everyone,

Could you pleaswe give me an advice on how to calculate nonlinear sound propagation in air using k-wave 1D? k-wave is crashing if I use density and sound speed of air (1 kg/m3 and 343 m/s).

After playing a bit with parameters, it seems to be working for density of water and sound speed of air (1000 kg/m3, 343 m/s) and even be working with a lower density (e.g., 100 kg/m3) but after that begins to crush. I know k-wave was not made for air-use but maybe you can give me a hint.

Thanks,
Ernst
