Hi Ben,
You are so right. I intended to use 3D, but ended up using the 2D function. It does match 1/sqrt(r) fall off.

thank you.

Hi Manojit,

First quick question: are you doing the example in 3D or 2D? In 2D you'll only get 1/sqrt(r) fall off.

Ben

Hi,
I am trying to use k-wave to simulate how photoacoustic signal look like. I have a basic question on the pressure wave strength it generates. For example I am doing a simple simulation with one point source and one point detector. Assuming the point source generates spherical pressure wave it should have a 1/r decay. Now first I take a point source and a detector with a distance r1 and generates PA signal say s1 and then I put the source and the detector at a distance r2 and gets a signal s2. I was expecting the max(s2)/max(s1) ~= r1/r2. But I don't see this happening. Could you explain where I am doing the mistake?

thanks
manojit
