&#60;p&#62;The function &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/kspaceSecondOrder.php&#34;&#62;kspaceSecondOrder&#60;/a&#62; which is used in this example is based on an exact Green's function solution to the homogeneous wave equation. Unfortunately this means the medium cannot be heterogeneous.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Similarly, at this stage, we have not implemented initial velocity sources into the first-order simulation functions (&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.k-wave.org/documentation/kspaceFirstOrder2D.php&#34;&#62;kspaceFirstOrder2D&#60;/a&#62;, etc). An alternative would be to use a time varying velocity source with a short (but smooth) temporal pulse (e.g., a Gaussian), and then use &#60;code&#62;source.u_mask&#60;/code&#62; to define your source distribution.&#60;/p&#62;
