Hi Shanshan,

k-Wave is a full-wave model that directly solves the heterogeneous wave equation (or rather, the constitutive equations that are used to form it). So all wave effects captured by the wave equation are included, e.g., scattering (reflection / diffraction, etc), refraction, attenuation (wave spreading, absorption), etc.

Brad.

I am using K wave simulation for ultrasound propagation in a skull-tissue medium. To be specific, my medium is a soft tissue with a layer of skull in it. I am wondering what kind of effects were considered and taken into account into simulation? For instance, propagating speed difference, refraction at the interfaces? I have considered these two effects, but the theoretical RF signal delay profile is still a little bit difference from what I got from K-wave simulation. Is there any other effect, such as mode conversion, was considered in K wave? Thanks!
