Focused beam through two medium

Hi,

I need to simulate focusing ultrasound beam to point through two medium. From transducer to lens throught medium 1 and then in medium 2 to point in medium 3 (see "picture" below).
Is it possible to simulate this problem with K-Wave?

Hi Laky,

Yes this is certainly possible using k-Wave, and relatively easy to setup. The different materials are defined by assigning the sound speed and density as matrices the same size as your computational grid. A good place to start is to work through some of the k-Wave examples accessible through the MATLAB help browser, in particular the Initial Value Problems examples which explain how to setup a simulation with a heterogeneous medium.

Keep in mind that k-Wave doesn't include any kind of electromechanical model of piezoelectricity - transducers are defined as mass (monopole) or force (dipole) sources, or as Dirichlet boundary conditions.
