   Hi,

   I am a student learning to use K-Wave toolbox to do some simulation about PAT. However, I have some problems when learning the example:Sensor Element Directivity in 2D.

   I am confused about that if every element has a size of 16 grid spacings, then 31 elements will exceed the size of kgrid(64*64). Could you please explain the meaning of sensor.directivity_pattern('pressure' and 'gradient')and sensor.directivity_size(16*kgrid.dx) more detailedly? I'd greatly appreciate your help.

   Hi Fan,

   When using the 'pressure' option, the function applies a directional response that is equivalent to the directionality that would arise from spatial averaging over an element of that size, but it doesn't explicitly do the averaging. Instead, it applies the directionality in the wavenumber domain using an analytical expression. Similarly, setting the pattern to 'gradient' applies the figure-of-eight response characteristic of dipole detectors (ie. insensitive at grazing incidence).
